Our Very Important Pets
From time to time, given adequate resources (time, money and volunteers), MCHS will take in a pet with special needs. These admissions generally involve medical needs, such as limb amputation and post-op therapy, heartworm treatment, eye removal, care for skin conditions, etc. The availability of proper care will allow these pets to return to good health, and become available for adoption. The medication(s), focused attention, and extended stays required by these pets put a strain on our financial resources, and we depend on our supporters to help us care for these pets.
Donations can be made on behalf of a specific pet; just designate the pet by name on the sponsorship form.
We are very grateful for your support in this endeavor. We hate to see a wonderful companion animal meet a sad fate due to the lack of resources for a necessary medical intervention.
Meet Cooper!
Cooper is a sweet, little guy who was found in a local animal control facility with a broken leg and multiples fractures of his pelvis. He had been suffering there for several days when Dr. Susie found him and decided to give him a chance! She rescued him, had x-rays taken, and arranged to have surgery for repair of his leg fracture, and then got him into a foster home for rest and recuperation. He will need quiet rest for about 8 weeks to make sure his fractures have stabilized and healed, and then he will need repeat xrays.
Cooper is a tiny, little guy and we are unsure of his breed…Cocker mix? King Charles? We’re not sure of anything except that he is 100% cute and precious! If you can help with Cooper’s health care needs, please click on the “Sponsor Me” link below.
Meet MARGO!
Margo is a friendly, happy lab mix pup who was rescued from a local animal control shelter just as she was about to be euthanized. Upon closer examination by our veterinarian, it was discovered that Margo has a problem with the joints in her back legs which will require surgery for correction, followed by attention and rehabilitation in the postoperative weeks. This surgery can be done at a local facility, however we are in need of donations for her surgery. Prior to scheduling surgery, we desperately need a stable, attentive foster home that can devote time to rehabilitation exercises three times daily for 4-6 weeks following the procedure. At this time, Margo’s surgery is being delayed until we can obtain funding and a foster parent.
If interested in meeting Margo, she has a place in the front entrance of the shelter. She loves to meet and socialize with our visitors and staff! Thankfully for Margo, we will make sure she gets the medical care she so desperately needs. If you would like to contribute funds to help cover the costs of Margo’s orthopedic surgery and post-op care, please click on the "sponsor me" link below.
Margo will not be available for adoption until she recovers from her surgery and has been given a clean bill of health by Dr. Susie.
