MCHS Happy Tails!

These dogs and cats have been adopted and are happy in their new, forever homes. Their new families have been kind enough to write back and let MCHS know how they are doing. This page is dedicated to those loving folks who have made a rescue animal part of their family.

Email us to share your MCHS Happy Tail rescue story. Please include a photo if possible!

Teddie

Hi MCHS! How are you? Just wanted to give you an update on Teddy (formerly Reggie). He continues to do very well. His coat is growing out and he is looking as cute as ever! We just adore him! Attached are some pictures of him from Halloween. We are planning to do some training with him in December to learn the typical commands (sit, down, etc.). Teddy was adopted by a family in Atlanta after they saw him and read his story on Petfinder.com. Teddy was living in terrible circumstances when his owner was no longer able to provide proper care for him and he was spending his life, matted, flea ridden and tied day and night in a carport.

Roxie & Rosie

My parent have been animals lovers all of their lives and we always had animals in our home. Mom and Dad lost their beloved poodle a few years ago, and at their ages they didn’t think it was fair for them to have another dog. A friend of mine brought over a dog that she had gotten for her mother, and after seeing my parents’ reaction, I knew that they needed a dog. I visited PetSmart and found the perfect dog. The only problem was..there were two. I decided to adopt Rosie for my parents and it’s been a long time since I’ve seen them so happy. When I mentioned that Rosie had a sister, it just broke their hearts to think about Roxie all alone…So, back to Petsmart to adopt Roxie. Roxie and Rosie are so happy to be together and my parents are so happy to once again have dogs to love! Thanks for saving Roxie and Rosie..my parents are thrilled to have them!

Roxie and Rosie were adopted by Robin S. for her parents, Oscar & Daisy. Roxie and Rosie were in a local animal control facility and were scheduled for euthanasia when MCHS staff rescued them for transfer to our shelter.

Elvis

Just wanted to give you an update on Elvis. He is doing GREAT!! He is just adorable and the sweetest thing! He hasn't been too shy with us, but he is shy when someone comes over. But he is warming up very well. He LOVES my daughter and it appears that he is going to be her dog. He follows her everywhere and the play well together. She is sooooo excited to have him.

We love him already and are so happy to have added him to our family!

Thanks again for everything!!

Elvis was adopted by Susan and her family. Elvis was a sad little guy who wandered up to a rural church where they fed him, and eventually got him to our shelter. As you can see, Elvis was in terrible shape with a skin condition, but after many weeks of love and care in a foster home, he was adopted by a loving family.

Max (Previously Wiggles)

Max is a sweet, sweet baby. We all love him very much. Here are the pictures I promised. We took these on Sunday, the day after we got him home. We gave him a bath as soon as we got home. We had already bought him a new collar, leash, food and treats. He now sports his name tag with our address and phone number on it. I already had a crate for him. He is acclimating very well.

Max was adopted by Wendy and her family.

Gus

I received a postcard in the mail today asking for an update on Gus. How much ram do you have? Since he is my favorite subject and I have endless pics this could go on forever. I am primarily working on basics right now, house training, biting, socializing. He has improved dramatically but he is still so naughty! I take him for doggie daycamp at Petsmart and last week he had to be put in the “Rowdy Room”. I don’t mind. I’ve only had him for just over a month and he’s already improved on the basics over 80%. He has rejuvenated my 12 year old retriever. They play all the time. We all get more exercise to work off his puppy energy. He sleeps in the big bed with me every night (a bit of a snorer, by the way), and gives me kisses and cuddles constantly. He is a gem!

Thank a million times over.

Gus was adopted by Corinne. Gus was in an animal control facility, had not been claimed by his owner and was scheduled to be euthanized. MCHS transferred Gus to our shelter, and he was adopted by Corrine A. Corrine had seen another dog on PetFinder, but he had already been adopted, so the shelter staff worked with her to find another great dog who needed a loving home

Maggie

You haven't heard from us for a long time, but we wanted to let you know that Maggie is still doing well--making great improvements every day!! She is greeting people without being afraid of them. As I was cutting some matted pieces of hair from her last evening, I was reflecting on the fact that a year ago she would not have allowed me to do that without a lot of concern and fear. Last week we went on a cruise leaving Maggie and Tessie at a friend's home in Florida. They said Maggie was great--no problems at all!! I have included two pictures of Maggie and Tessie at our front door.

We dearly love Maggie and are so happy with all of the changes that she has made to be a happy, loving, trusting dog. We call her MaggaBoo sometimes. She can be rather comical especially when you give her dog cookies (a.m.). She pounces on the cookies and does circles, etc. before she eats one. Wish we had a video camera at times and send her record of antics to Funniest Home Videos, etc.

Maggie was adopted by Randy and Sue T., St. Simons Island, GA. Maggie was seized with 5 other dogs by court order in Atlanta due to abuse and neglect. Maggie and one other dog survived. The shelter caring for Maggie did not have the ability to treat her heartworms, so MCHS accepted her for treatment. Randy and Sue read Maggie’s story on Petfinder, and drove all the way to Columbus to adopt her. We love hearing about Maggie’s progress!
